Still going backwards through Saint Tommy, NYPD.
So, yeah, Light Bringer.
I knew I was going to wrap up the series. I had to end it the way it did. I made that promise in book one. Originally, I was going to end with book six, and have a grand epilogue that was The Final Battle (again, per yesterday's post, it would have ended on the top of the Empire State Building).
But Saint Tommy was the best selling series that Silver Empire had when I was writing for them. Of course I was going to continue the series. And I had a plan for only another six books (four of which I wrote in 2020).
With Light Bringer, I deliberated made a choice to stop writing the headlines, and rip THEM off for a change. (Especially after Hell Spawn, etc.) So there's a dash of Weinstein, a splash of Kevin Spacey, a hint of Epstein, some Sad Puppies, and “What if WB killed Zack Snyder’s Daughter so they could have Joss Whedon finish Justice League.”
And, of course, I planned for a trilogy of books with one overarching enemy. You can probably guess who.
Since I had some call backs to Marion Zimmer Bradley, and this IS Urban Fantasy, her and her husband come back from Hell to lead a hit squad. Yes, this was just an excuse for me to use them like a pinata before sending them back to Hell. (Yes, I told Moira about it first.)
Of course, I ended this one with a swordfight on top of the “Golden Chalice Studios” building, just under the 59th Street Bridge. I even titled the chapter “There can only be one.”
Because I is subtle like that, y'all.
