What have I been up to?

Usually, whenever I ask for questions about my work, the most frequent inquiry is:

“What are you up to?”

Which is a good question.

Because even I don’t know offhand. I just drive through what’s next and move on.

Since On Tiber’s Edge, I’ve worked on:

1) Fantastic Schools

Yet another part in the Fantastic Schools anthology series. I really am building up a little novel here.

The next one is “Fantastic Schools Isekai.”

While Isekai typically translates into portal fantasy, I translate it as “crossover.” Heh heh heh.

Yes, Professor Stewart is going to run into some of my other playmates. Which ones? You’ll have to read it to see … if and or when it ever comes out, because it’s been a minute since I sent in that submission. Maybe L. Jagi Lamplighter Wright will send me a note.

Some days the years feel like they’re getting longer. Sometimes they blur past.

2) Cirsova

Speaking of short stories, my Cirsova short came out in their penultimate issue. Yes, I know I wrote it last year, so I guess it shouldn’t count. But I’ll take my wins where I can get them.

3) White Ops Is back

I’ve been working on White Ops 6. If the sales don’t improve on that, it’ll be the last White Ops novel.

Which is annoying, I had 13 books planned. And partially written. But few people seem to care, unless they’re Jim McCoy.

4) Land & Sea

I’ve been working on Beside Still Waters, sequel to On Tiber’s Edge, for Blaine Lee Pardoe’s Land & Sea series.

I turned the book over to Blaine in February.

Then Blaine published three books.

I got his notes back on Tuesday.

If I get more feedback on an element, I might be able to finish it and turn it back to him by next week.

5) Saint Tommy, NYPD. Again.

One of the things that ate up a lot of time for Richard Paolinelli and Tuscany Bay Books was the creation of new Omnibus editions of Saint Tommy NYPD. Four volumes will include all 12 novels, as well as seven short stories, including one that was never published, for reasons I don’t recall.

My editor / slave labor were put to work on the omnibi, catching errors that have survived readings by nine different editors over ten years, and hundreds of readers who reviewed the books. Yes, I counted the editors. But hey, one of my reviewers over at Upstream Reviews just found an airport novel where someone misspelled the main character’s name, so I don’t feel bad.

Also, for those people who don’t want to hunt down all the omnibi in order to read the Saint Tommy NYPD short stories, there’s also an anthology coming out.

6) Miscellaneous

And of course, I’m writing reviews for Upstream, and herding cats over there as needed. Someone even called me a leader, which I think is overestimating what I’m actually doing, but I smile and nod and go along.

I’ve also had a quick job in the tech sector. The job lasted a day, but onboarding took about two weeks. You can imagine how pissed off I was.

Oh, and I’ve been loading my my novels to Spotlight on Indie. Manually. And over forty books, and I don’t know how many anthologies later … is going to take some time.

Okay. This may not suck in terms of actual productivity.
