That kind of ROI was what got so many people to start making movies in the first place, way back when!

Exactly. It's what B movies were for. Pump out a bunch of Charlie Chan films (which are basically plays on one set, some of them) and you profit!!!

I'm trying to remember the name of a famous horror movie that was made, perhaps as a class project, for $10k or so, and made millions.

Halloween cost $25,000, and $5k of that was Donald Pleasance.

A quarter-billion with a 750k investment. Not too shabby.

I loved to watch Star Trek on Youtube. New Voyages, Continues, Hidden Frontier were all shot on shoestring budgets. They built two Enterprise sets to make fan filming easier, and both have been shut down by paramount, because they couldn't handle the competition from non guild cast and crews. Most fan made films are crafted better than modern hollywood dumpster fires.

It helps that fan films are made because the people involve love the material.

But I don't want to save Hollywood. I'm glad to see an indie, if decently funded, film maker do well. There are some good sub 10k films out there too.

Same for the Backrooms movie! Everybody in my circles is seeing that and enjoying it!

Yeah. All the reviews for Backrooms hit me literally the hour after I posted this one.
