This was originally my first paid post on Substack.
But I think sanity has come in enough that I can just post it.
Sadly, it’s still relevant.
If you’ve been with me long enough—going back to my original Blogger page— you know that I would love to be politically apathetic.
But if we’ve all been paying attention, I think we’ve all come to know better.
Just because you’re not interested in politics doesn’t mean that politics isn’t interested in you.
To steal a line from my friend Kai Wai Cheah: Politics is never personal until it happens to you.
If you’ve been paying attention to the Left, you’ve noticed that they’ve got a strong streak of crazy running through their veins. They’ve gone from hating opposition, to hating simple disagreement. If you disagree, you’re a -phobe or an -ist.
Disagree that not all cops are bastards? You’re a racist.
Think that you should be old enough to drive before you transition into anything? You’re a transphobe.
Think that there should be mental screening before you transition into another species? (Yes, that’s a thing.) Also a transphobe.
If you think voter ID is a good idea? Racist. Not sure how, but racist.
Disagree with anti-racism training? Racist.
You insist on being color blind? Racist.
Do you not care about gay marriage? You’re a homophobe. You will be made to care.
… Heck, who am I kidding? If you don’t care about anything the Leftists believe in, you will be made to care.
And if they don’t get you, they’ll get your kids. Or your grandkids. Somewhere down your family tree.
After all, these are the people who think it’s a good idea to teach children about how to worship an Aztec god who thrived on human sacrifice.
As one pagan I know put it: “These idiots think this is harmless because they don’t believe in it. What if it’s real and you make contact with it?”
Now, it’s possible that you think, like I used to, that you can reason with or rationally discuss things with the Left.
If that’s the case, are you wrong. Obviously, I can’t stop you. But go ahead. Try it sometime. X. Facebook. Real life if you must, but I don’t recommend it.
One of my more recent Twitter interactions was with idiots who wanted to insist that DOZENS OF PEOPLE ARE CRIPPLED BY THE JANUARY 6TH CAPITAL INSURRECTION.
Trying to explain that the only one murdered was a blonde navy Vet named Ashli Babbitt will get you nowhere. And of course, “Babbitt had it coming.” Even the stroke-related, natural causes death of Officer Sicknick is now “trauma related.” Not blunt-force trauma, emotional trauma. Yes, people told me that. They won’t even use “their own” media sources; they’ll use something out of date as their “proof.”
It’s funnier when they argue “property damage” and “trespassing” when arguing that everyone on the 6th should be executed, but when BLM caused two billion dollars worth of damage in 2020, that was fine. Because “free speech”—even though the first amendment doesn’t work that way.
But this has been the same exact encounter no matter the topic. Eventually, it all comes down to “if you didn’t vote for the Left, you’re a traitor to this country.”
“Everyone else” is a Nazi.
“Everyone else” needs to be thrown into a reeducation camp.
After 2020, where cops would not break up riots, but they would enforce mask mandates, it’s obvious that law enforcement could not be relied upon to disregard stupid or illegal bullshit from on high. If someone tried to use law enforcement to push political agendas.
We’ve seen it over the years of Biden. I can at least thing of three people the ATF outright assassinated over the past few years. We know the Capitol Police act as Pelosi’s assassins without problems.
And really, I wouldn’t trust the FBI until they were disbanded, fired, and then filtered through the US Marshall’s hiring process.
You know, it’s funny. The technological brown shirts who operate lefty bot accounts on X for the sole purpose of attacking those who disagree with them… they don’t realize what happened to their historical predecessors. Imagine what happens when the Left finally decide that BLM or Anti-Fa, or anyone else outlive their usefulness.
After 2024, am I more laid-back about it? Maybe. But I think after what we’ve all lived through, there is no such thing as a high-trust society now. Maybe never again, until everyone forgets the lessons of the past five years.
“These idiots think this is harmless because they don’t believe in it. What if it’s real and you make contact with it?”
....awesome book idea! :D Liberal leftie teacher goes through a lesson on the Aztecs and their gods, wakes one up & it takes notice of her.... [Cue Edward G. Robinson voice from The Ten Commandments] "Where's your intersectionality now? Where's your genderqueer theory now, see?" :D
Re disbanding and then filtering the FBI: better yet, disband and stop there. That's what the plain text of the Constitution requires, since nothing resembling the FBI is authorized by that document.
