The Big Beautiful Based Book Sale
Cheap / Free books
Normally, I would trust Substack’s Cross-Posting on this…
But I just saw what the cross-post did to my attempt the other day… and I seriously hate it, and feel a dire need to fix it.
So, the Big Beautiful Based Book Sale … not the official name, but who cares, this is my site, I can call it what I want. Officially, it is the 2025 Summer Based Book Sale, but do you really care what it’s called? It has free books, and it has $0.99 books, and it is put together by Hans G. Schantz, which is impressive, because he’s probably at LibertyCon… right now, if I had to guess.
Here’s the sale, but please wait, there really is more.
For you people who are not terminally online, like me, you’re probably wondering: What is “based”? What is it based on?
Let’s try to define it a little.
Based: Slang term, "Based in reality." Usually referring to right-wing culture, since the Left is based in whatever post-modern BS (ie: “woke”) they've got going on this week.
In this case, it's a variation on "BasedCon," a right-wing convention out of Michigan. If you’re to the right of Joe Manchin / Fetterman / whatever fake centrist the left has at the moment, you can probably get in. I know of a whole four people who are banned from BasedCon, completely on the foundation that they have been complete and total A-holes.
Anyway, I digress. You’re here about books.
I’ll start with the one that’s important to me, Honeymoon From Hell #1, The Neck Romancer. It’s on for $0.99 from Amazon this week. If you must have it from somewhere that isn’t Amazon … sorry. I really am.
Speaking of books, funny enough, Upstream Reviews has already tackled multiple novels on sale right now.
Gun Magus: a John Wick Isekai. Sort of.
Death Planet: Jurassic Park IN SPACE…. Sort of. Somehow, they all end up like am H Rider Haggard novel, crossed with a John Ringo SF Author.
Then we have a solid Sf police procedural. Phoenix by Lori Janeski:
And the sequel, Raven:
There is also Chasing Freedom, by Marina Fontaine. (Yikes, I read that so long ago).
And we have a strong MilSF by Karl Gallagher, Seize what's Held Dear:
And of course, most recently:
Anyway, once you’ve checked out those reviews (if any strike your fancy), I will once more post the link to the Big Beautiful Based Book Sale,
Be sure to share this post around (or even the book sale) on the usual platforms, make sure as many people see it as possible.
Illegitimi Non Carborundum, ya’ll.

Just heading to Chattanooga for LibertyCon this morning.
