Because culture is upstream from politics

I don’t actually know if anyone had even heard about this when I announced it back on Mailchimp, so I’m going to try now and see who notices.

You may not be aware, but anyone to the right of Mao has a problem…

Okay, there are legions of problems. But I’m a writer, and one problems comes quickly to mind. And often.

The problem is that more often than not, you have Big Name “Conservatives” crying to the Heavens about how no one on the right creates anything. “There are no right-wing authors! Or artists!”

Meanwhile, I’m over here with my “Conserivative Libertarian Fiction Alliance Book of the Year” Award going WHAT THE BLEEP ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! WE’RE RIGHT HERE! IF THE NRA HAD A BRAIN IN THEIR HEAD, THEY’D BACK THE JOHN WICK FILMS!

… Anyway.

So I went about going to Big GOP Inc publications asking about fiction reviews. I’ll write the reviews, they publish them. How hard could that be?

I went to National Review. I went to Washington Examiner. I went to Breitbart. I went all over the place.

The responses I got?

• “Fiction doesn’t matter.”

• “Fiction is trash.”

• “Fiction is a waste of time.”

So when an acquaintance of mine, Robert Kroese asked if I wanted to join forces and start a review website for good books, I jumped at it.

And so, Upstream Reviews happened: Because culture is upstream from politics.

So far I’ve reviewed about a dozen books. And I have a few more in the queue depending on how the other reviewers proceed.

Yes, there’s more than just me. Isn’t it a nice change?
