In my last post, I happily mentioned that I self published my first novel, It Was Only on Stun! as a birthday gift to myself. And that I had hit the 10 year anniversary of being published. And isn’t it so awesome that I have 29 published books?
The day before the blog posted, I get a call from my publisher, Russell Newquist of Silver Empire.
Silver Empire was closing.
As of this post, it’s almost closed. No more purchases. No more book club. Refunds are pending, etc etc.
The entire publishing company will wrap up by the end of the month.
But I will get the rights back to all of the books I’ve had with them—all 18 novels. Timing!
This is what I get for writing and scheduling blogs in advance.
This will not … completely reset my world. They’ll be sending me all of the covers and all of the files for the books. I’ll have to find or create covers for the last three Saint Tommy NYPD novels, but my wife is on that.
Right now, as I wait for the rights and the files and the covers etc etc to come my way, I am contemplating what to do now. Tuscany Bay press, the people behind publishing my White Ops books, has already said they’re interested in publishing my books. They can get my backlist up and running, on multiple formats, almost immediately.
As I look into Draft2Digital, (getting ready for my next book series … yes, another one) I find that their ebooks are fine. In fact, looks fairly easy. Once you try to get into print, apparently, that’s going to take some time. No, I don’t know why. It says the hardcopies is in beta… which is odd, Tuscany Bay seems to be doing just fine with making paperbacks.
Yes, I wish I knew what the heck was going on over there, but I’ve asked for more information.
I have an old friend of mine who has resurfaced with “Conservatarian Press,” which arose from the ashes that was Liberty Island Press. If you don’t know what one… oy, is that a story. I just wish I had the option to tell you that one.
So, a lot of balls are up in the air right now. I’m waiting on information. I’m waiting on emails to be answered. I’m waiting for the files.
There’s a lot of waiting.
I hope to get back to you with more information when I can.
Preferably tomorrow.
Be well, all.
So sorry to hear about Silver Empire. I am glad you are getting your materials back without any kind of fight.
Any ideas what's going to happen with the Heros unleashed series?
I was really looking forward to the next series of books.
Will Tuscany Bay publish the rest of the St Tommy series?
Thanks!
