While I agree about the theological problems, I give it high marks for keeping the guardian angel as Good and the Demons as Bad.

Derek is whiny but one of the theological problems is "why he is fallen".

But overall, I enjoyed the book.

One of the reasons I tend to skip female horror/fantasy writers is because not wanting creeptastic stuff in my romance. Or, honestly, sexy-yearny-navel-gaving romance in my action adventure stories*, though I'll tolerate it if the story is Just That Good. I grok that this is an outlier taste, but it is mine own.

How romance-genre-y is Julie Frost? This book? Because it does sound spectacular.

*Unless you're Mary Stewart or Dorothy Grant.
