Hey man! So sorry for your loss. My dad passed away on the 3rd, and it still aches, but then I remember discussions, songs, drinks, and fun times and a smile takes over, despite the tears. I pray for peace and blessings on you, Vanessa and all of your family in this time. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Declan, my thoughts are with you and your family as you cope with this. May your father's memory be a blessing to all who knew him, and may you find peace in this journey.

This may not be appropriate here, but as a Stage IV cancer survivor, this served as a reminder to me that I need to have my s*** in order to save my wife and daughter as much of your struggle as I can. Thanks for sharing your pain with us - it's never easy, but keep in touch.

All the best to you and yours.

Condolences 💐. I still cry when I find myself doing an activity that I grew up doing with my Dad. Been several years and I miss him. Be patient with yourself. A major loss at the cusp of major changes. Two tons of books? You might actually own more books than I do.

Declann,

My condolences. My mom died 2 years ago. So I know what you're experiencing.

I miss her but still have happy memories.

Declan my brother,

I can't say how much my heart aches for you in this. I've been there, hated it.

I will continue to pray for your dad, you, and Vanessa.

Take your time. It will take a long time.

My father (a 30-year type 2 diabetic) died on 25MAR22 at 87.

Because of his laundry list of health issues, it was a mercy but at the same time, still so damn hard.

Don't do anything too fast.

If people offer help, take it.

If you've got a friend or acquaintance like my GS-9 sister-in-law who worked for the Air Force's medical care for dependents department and was skilled in navigating bureaucracies, take it! My sister-in-law is the ONLY reason my widowed mother's paperwork got done in record time. She made OTHER people bow to her will.

Take your time and remember the good times.

May God give you and your family comfort.
